This is over a week old already, but here is a long overdue pregnancy picture. I'm into week 39 now - this is at 37 weeks. Things continue to go super smoothly. There are two midwives in town who work together to deliver babies at the hospital. Each time I go for an appointment, I alternate which one I see so that I get to know both. When I go into labor, whichever one is on call that day will be present for the delivery. I absolutely love both of them!
The midwives keep telling me this is an atypical third pregnancy. They say that normally women have more Braxton Hicks contractions and more aches and pains with the third. I have had fewer contractions than with Noelle and no aches and pains (though I didn't really have those in the past either). They can't believe that I don't wake up every two hours at night having sore hips and needing to go to the bathroom. No sore hips at all, and I usually need to get up once if at all.
A few weeks ago I heard something I've never heard before. The midwife said I was measuring SMALL (when she measured how many centimeters above my belly button my uterus was)! If you know me and my pregnancies well, this should amuse you. Small isn't normally used in the same sentence as me when pregnant...ha! Based on my 23 week ultrasound, I do think this baby will be smaller than my other two. The midwife thought she was about 7 lbs (guessing) on Thursday, which would make her around 8 lbs at the due date. Reagan and Noelle were about 9 lbs on time. We will see though!
I don't have a strong guess about when this baby will come. My thought for awhile has been between the due date and one week after. I have started having more contractions lately though, so that has me thinking she could potentially come early. But who knows! The midwife and I decided on Thursday that she is still sitting up high - hasn't "dropped" yet. Noelle was five days early, and I know that at my 38 week appointment the doctor said she was already engaged in the pelvis. However, the midwife explained to me that, if it isn't your first baby, the baby can drop as late as during labor itself.
Keep checking back for updates! Could be tomorrow, could be four weeks!
