This morning Matt had a bowel movement with red in it, so, instead of going to church, we tossed the girls in the car and drove the hour and a half to North Platte. This was the plan from the Imperial doctor for the minute Matt noticed he was bleeding again. I drove about 80 in a 60 mile zone, which many of you know is totally unlike me! But it was important to get there before the bleeding stopped.
The hospital staff there was great about working with us and getting Matt in right away. He was in with the technician for his tagged red blood cell scan within 20 minutes of us arriving. (If you recall from our earlier posts, this is the scan they do to see where active bleeding is coming from.) The test took about an hour and a half, so the girls and I ate lunch in the cafeteria and played in the waiting room. We also spent a few minutes in the little chapel saying the Apostle's Creed and the Lord's Prayer. Reagan was pretty ticked that we skipped church today, so that was my way of making it up to her!
The scan did not show any areas of active bleeding. After talking with Matt's doctor here over the phone and the technician in North Platte, we decided to return to Imperial. We will go back for another red blood cell scan tomorrow morning. The tech said that sometimes it does take awhile for the dye (or whatever it is) to work through one's system, so we are hoping tomorrow's scan catches something. Matt had his lab work done while we were there, and his blood count has gone down again. We were surprised by this because he has been feeling so well for the past week and a half!
Once again, your prayers are appreciated! We are hoping to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.
